Out of favour West Indies’ batsman, Kieron Pollard has created a world record for himself. The burly all-rounder has featured in a total of 400 T20 games, which is the most by any player in the world. Pollard’s national teammates Dwayne Bravo has played 372 T20s, while Chris Gayle sits in the third position with 323 T20s. He achieved this record in the on-going Big Bash League (BBL) where he plays for the Adelaide Strikers.

A mountain of runs

Capable of hitting the ball out of the park at all cricket grounds, Pollard announced his arrival at the 2009 CLT20 when he smashed 146 runs in five innings at an unbelievable strike-rate of close to 200. His most memorable performance was the 18-ball half century with which he took his team Trinidad & Tobago over the line in a crunch game.

The big man, who is also thoroughly entertaining on the field, has scored a mountain of runs in his career of the shortest format. In 400 games, Pollard has added 7,830 runs that include 39 fifties at an average of 30.11 and is only third behind Gayle (11,068) and Brendon McCullum (8,769) on the leading run-scorers list.

He has also contributed to his team’s cause with his medium pace bowling having scalped 243 wickets in a format thoroughly dominated by the bat wielders. He has been a fan favourite and the most prominent name across the T20 circuit. In fact, there is no domestic T20 league in the world where Pollard hasn’t left his mark.

Mumbai Indians expected to use an RTM card for him

He was a part of all three title wins of the Mumbai Indians. In 2013, when Mumbai won their first title, the all-rounder scored 420 runs and picked up 10 wickets from 18 matches. He has scored 2343 runs in 123 IPL matches, along with 56 wickets. But going into the IPL 2018 auction MI did not retain Pollard but it is expected that they will use their ‘Right To Match’ (RTM) on him. The auction will be held on January 27 and 28 in Bengaluru.
