Team South Africa are in a commanding position in the ongoing Cape Town Test against India. After being shockingly down 12/3 on the first day, they have done exceedingly well to dictate the terms by the end of the second day’s play. South African skipper, Faf du Plessis, is certainly a very happy man at the moment. Well, truth be told, du Plessis and the South African camp did have a frustrating period of time on the second day.

After the Proteas bowlers oozed aggression with the new ball, the Indian side reeled on 92/7. They were expected to be bundled out somewhere in the nearabouts of 100. However, a fighting 93 from Hardik Pandya followed and that saw the visitors save some grace. Also, Bhuvneshwar Kumar deserves a lot of credit for the way he supported Pandya at the crease.

The two batsmen added 99 runs for the 8th wicket in 147 balls. The South African bowlers kept searching for wickets but the two batsmen frustrated them for quite a significant amount of time. No wonder why skipper Faf du Plessis was seen shuffling his options big time during the second session of play.

The partnership was eventually broken when Morne Morkel managed to get an outside edge off the bat of Bhuvneshwar Kumar just after the tea break. Bhuvneshwar’s resistance was broken and South Africa had their 8th scalp. Bhuvi scored a fighting 25 off 86 deliveries. Bhuvi was down and out but the threat still lingered. Hardik Pandya was inching towards his century and had already seen the deficit get below the 100-mark.

It was right then that Kagiso Rabada dismissed Pandya on 93. It was a short delivery that angled across Pandya. Pandya thought of getting an upper cut executed but ended up edging one to the keeper. Quinton de Kock completed the catch and the monumental knock came to an end. Skipper Faf du Plessis was a highly relieved man. Well, this was evident from the fact that du Plessis went on to kiss the forehead of Rabada after the wicket.

This is not the first time that he has done so. The Twitterati could not keep their calm and ended up commenting on the story. While some hailed the camaraderie, there were others who made hilarious trolls on it.

Here is how the fans reacted to du Plessis’s kiss of relief:
