KL Rahul has been hovering around the Indian team for quite a long time now. He was thrown into light when he scored some heavy runs against England in the Test series earlier in the season. Rahul, since then hasn’t looked backed and has made his mark in the Tests as well as the shorter formats of the game. He was, however, left out of the squad for the current India vs New Zealand ODI series.
Rahul did not feature much against the Australians and his struggle in the middle order against the Lankans made the selectors think. The 25-year-old Indian batter was not amongst the runs during that series and struggled against the spinners. Ajinkya Rahane already proving his worth as a 3rd opener, Rahul needs some time to introspect.
Virat also explained Rahul’s expulsion from the squad where he told the reporters that KL is an opener and we don’t want him to forcibly bat in the middle order. Hence, they have gone with experience and have left KL alone to go back and work at the first class level. It made sense as we have seen the same thing happen with Ajinkya Rahane as well.
KL shows his support from home
The Karnataka batter is, however, enjoying his expulsion by supporting his teammates from his home. He was seen posing with his dog Simba and posted a photo on his Twitter handle. Rahul is one of the most stylish players on and off the field and is always well dressed wherever he goes. In the photo, he was seen wearing a T-shirt which rightly said, “You don’t always need a plan” one can only think of a hidden message in there somewhere.
The photo on the Twitter was captioned and it said that his dog Simba was supporting the men in blue and referred to him as “king Simba”. The Tweet read, “Watching the first ODI with King Simba. He wishes you luck boys @BCCI #Basic #SundayFunday #IndVNZ.”
