Kolkata Police seize phone from Mohammed Shami; BCCI to co-operate

The Indian pacer has had his phone confiscated by the police.

Promising Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami and his golden career are facing a serious threat after his wife Hasin Jahan, has raised several allegations against him. The Kolkata resident has been booked under sections 498A (Husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 323 (Causing hurt), 307 (Attempt to murder), 376 (Punishment for rape), 506 (Criminal intimidation), 328 (Causing hurt by means of poison, etc., with intent to commit an offence.), 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of IPC.

BCCI asked to help the police with investigations 

The case has been handed over to the Detective Department of Kolkata’s Lal Bazar Police. According to a report in The Indian Express, Kolkata police have asked BCCI to help them with their investigation by providing information about Shami’s travel details, especially his stay in Dubai which happened on his way back to India from South Africa.

“We have sent a letter to the BCCI and (we are) waiting for their response. We have sought details of his (Shami) tours and routes. We are yet to receive any response from the body,” Indian Express quoted Joint Commissioner of Kolkata Police (Crime) Praveen Tripathi as saying.

Mobile phone seized 

Furthermore, the cricketer’s mobile number has also been seized by the police. The phone will be sent for forensic testing to get to the crux of the allegations made by Shami’s wife of four years, who previously worked as a cheerleader for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

“We have seized the mobile phone and also some documents from the complainant. The mobile will be sent for forensic testing to verify certain things, including the audio clip voice. We will also investigate what network was being used with regard to the mobile and the applications that had been en vogue to communicate with people,” the police revealed.
