Kraigg Brathwaite has carved a reputation as a dependable batsman for the Windies in Test cricket. He was leading run-scorer in the Windies’ erstwhile home Test series against Bangladesh. The 25-year-old notched 239 runs in the two matches at an average of 79.66. He racked up a couple of centuries and didn’t allow the visiting team’s bowling lineup to dictate terms to him.

Recently, the right-handed batsman has been signed by Northamptonshire for the County Championship Division One. The Notts are currently placed third in the points table with 110 points from their four wins in nine matches. The team has five matches remaining in the event. In the meantime, the Barbados-born cricketer expressed his delight after bagging the deal as per reports in Cricbuzz.

Kraigg will bring great experience to the side

“I’m excited about getting going at this great club and hopefully I can help the side push for the Championship title in the run-in. Being able to call Trent Bridge home for a few weeks will be a great feeling and I’ll be looking to give my best for the team across the final five games. Testing myself in English conditions will develop my game and I’m hoping to continue my good form with the bat, starting on Sunday,” he mentioned.

Mick Newell, Nottinghamshire’s Director of Cricket, also wished for the batter to continue with his rich vein of form. “Kraigg will bring great experience to the side having played nearly 50 Test matches and we hope he can continue his form on these shores. Put simply, he adds quality and depth and we’re hopeful that he can make contributions in the final weeks of the season,” Newell remarked.

Nottinghamshire will next play Hampshire from August 19 in Southampton. The other four matches are scheduled to be played against Surrey, Yorkshire, Essex, and Somerset. The county has a fair distance to travel in order to topple Surrey, the table toppers with 153 points from their eight matches.
