Late ASI's daughter Zohra thanks Gautam Gambhir for keeping her dreams alive

Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir has always indulged himself in great social works, by helping out those children who are in need of a support. Gambhir always had deep respect for the Army officers who protect and safeguard our nation by risking their lives. Very recently on Tuesday, Gambhir showed another classic example of helping someone in need, by announcing to sponsor the lifetime education of Late Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of police Abdul Rashid’s daughter, Zohra.

On August 28, Rashid was killed by terrorists at  Mehandi Kadal in Anantnag District of Jammu and Kashmir. During the wreath-laying ceremony of the martyr, his daughter Zohra’s unnerving image surfaced in the media. Gautam Gambhir then tweeted saying that he will take up lifetime educational expenses of the young child who now was deprived of a loving father.

In two tweets, the batsman from Delhi wrote “Zohra, I can’t put u 2 sleep wid a lullaby but I’ll help u 2 wake up 2 live ur dreams. Will support ur education 4 lifetime #daughterofIndia. Zohra, plz don’t let those tears fall as I doubt even Mother Earth can take d weight of ur pain. Salutes to ur martyred dad ASI,Abdul Rashid.(sic).”

Knowing that the cricketer has taken the responsibility of helping her chasing her dreams to become a doctor, Zohra told the reporters “Thank you Gautam Sir. Me and my family are very happy with your gesture. I want to study and become a doctor.”

Gauti’s reply

When the 35-year old heard Zohra’s message, he replied by saying that there is no need to thank him as she is just like his two daughters- Aazeen and Anaiza. “Zohra beta, don’t thank me, u r lik my daughters Aazeen & Anaiza. Heard u wana b a doctor.Just spread ur wings n chase ur dreams.WE R THERE,” wrote the owner of over 10,ooo international runs.
