'Laxman Sivaramakrishnan & Roger Binny will be on the top of the list' - Ravi Shastri picks his beer buddies

Ravi Shastri, the head coach of India was recently involved in a live session with one of the renowned media houses. He discussed several topics related to cricket and his cricketing memories from 1985 Benson & Hedges World Championship. During the interaction, he also revealed the name of two former cricketers with whom he would like to drink beer amid COVID-19 outbreak.

The 57-year-old is known for his flamboyant nature who likes consuming alcohol. Earlier, he had also attracted controversy when he was spotted drinking beer publicly after India’s historic Test win at Melbourne back in 2018 against Australia.

Ravi Shastri and his love for beer

During the latest episode of Sony Ten Pit Stop, the journalist Rajdeep Sardesai asked Ravi Shastri to pick two players with whom he would not mind drinking beer or can be quoted as his ‘beer buddies’. Responding to the question, the former Indian cricketer replied that if he had to pick two players for drinking beer then they will always be Roger Binny and Laxman Sivaramakrishnan.

He even revealed that his house in Alibaug, Maharashtra comes under the orange zone. Ravi Shastri added that now he is going to get some beer to drink as the government has given some relaxation in lockdown. “With the lockdown now, I’m past the red zone and am currently in the orange zone in Alibaug. I’m going to get a beer tonight, am sure there will be some shop open.

“And if I had to get two guys to get a beer with me I’m sure Roger would have joined me and so would Siva. Siva (Laxman Sivaramakrishnan), Roger (Binny) will be on the top of the list,” Shastri said on being asked whom he would like to hang around within quarantine from the Indian team of 1985.

Meanwhile, he also shared some fond memories from the Benson & Hedges World Championship and his rivalry with Javed Miandad for the player of the tournament trophy in that particular event. Shastri also picked New Zealand as one of the strongest sides played in that championship. As per him, they always used to always give more than their best on the cricket field against their opponents.
