Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo? Shreyas Iyer reveals his preferred choice

Cricketers and their love towards football has been a never-ending affair. Many cricketers including Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have expressed their love towards certain footballers or football teams in the past. The football universe has been divided into two predominant halves– one cluster supporting Cristiano Ronaldo and the other backing Lionel Messi.

Both Ronaldo and Messi have been proving their worth in club as well as international football since more than a decade now. While Ronaldo is currently associated with Juventus, Messi has been a part of FC Barcelona since the start of his football journey. Amid the sport being ruled by these two superstars, many Indian cricketers are known to be their fanboys.

On several occasions, many cricketers have joined the debate over who amongst the two footballers is the superior one. Indian skipper Virat Kohli had also chosen Ronaldo over Messi when he was asked to choose between the two. The pillar of Indian batting force had termed Ronaldo as a ‘complete’ player and had lauded his skills too saying that the Portuguese superstar is a phenomenal goal-scorer.

Meanwhile, another Indian cricketer– Shreyas Iyer– has also joined the bandwagon and has voiced his opinion about the two football maestros. Like Kohli, Iyer also chose Ronaldo over Messi when he was asked to make a choice between the two.

While the world is being plummeted with the novel Coronavirus, many cricketers and prominent personalities have been active on Twitter. Many cricketers including Shreyas Iyer conducted a Question&Answer session on Twitter where the Delhi Capitals skipper took the side of Ronaldo over Messi.

Along with voicing his opinion about Ronaldo vs Messi debate, Iyer also answered a plethora of questions. From sharing his opinion on KL Rahul to choosing his favourite South Indian dish– the youngster did not shy away from answering questions on the micro-blogging site.

The 25-year-old was last seen in the five-match ODI series against New Zealand where the Men in Blue suffered a thumping series defeat. Virat Kohli and his men had to endure a 5-0 loss against the Kiwis after clinching the T20I series 3-0.
