Alec Stewart played for England from 1989-2004 as a batsman, wicket keeper and captained England with considerable success. Stewart was a stylish right handed batsman who was probably the best batsman they had, but keeping the wickets brought his average down, but England wanted him to keep and so he did. He retired from cricket at the age of 40 after playing 100 tests for England.
