Preview

Afghanistan will be up against Pakistan in the second ODI match of the Afghanistan Tour of Sri Lanka at the Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota on August 24. After a game Afghanistan would like to forget as soon as possible, they would be eyeing to make a comeback and turn things around in the coming match.

These teams locked horns against each other at the same venue in their last game, where the toss was won by Pakistan, who elected to bat. Pakistan did not have a start as they would have hoped for, losing Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam within just two overs of the game. However, it was followed by a couple of good partnerships, which gave Pakistan a mini-comeback. However, after Imam was dismissed, another collapse was in the way, and Pakistan could only score 201 before being bowled out. Spin to win seemed to have worked wonders for Afghanistan.

However, what happened in the second innings was not something anyone would have hoped for. Other than Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Azmatullah Omarzai, no other batter could even come close to touching the two-digit mark. Batters were coming and leaving the crease so quickly that the coming batters were not even getting enough time to strap their pads on. Afghanistan soon was bowled out on a mere total of 59 runs, which is the lowest total against Pakistan in ODIs, and Haris Rauf was the chief destructor in this chase.
