Australia will take on South Africa in the 10th match of the Cricket World Cup 2023 on Thursday (October 12) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. It will be the second game in the tournament for both teams.

Australia had a go against India in their opening game and had one of the worst starts in their World Cup campaigns. They were bundled out for just 199 runs after winning the toss and electing to bat. David Warner and Steve Smith were the only batters who scored over 40 runs for the team. Josh Hazlewood had a great day with the ball as he picked up three wickets for 38 runs in nine overs. Mitchell Starc bowled eight overs and picked one wicket as well. India won the game by six wickets after chasing down the target of 200 runs in 41.2 overs.

South Africa had one of the most memorable starts in World Cups. They made 428 runs for the loss of five wickets against Sri Lanka, with the help of centuries from Quinton de Kock, Rassie van der Dussen, and Aiden Markram. It was the highest team total in the ODI World Cup. Sri Lanka tried their best and had a decent outing with the bat. They were bundled out for 326 runs in 44.5 overs and lost the match by 102 runs.
