Preview

Australia will be up against the West Indies in the first Test of the West Indies tour of Australia at the Adelaide Oval on January 17. Australia seems to be in good form in the recent matches in this format as they have won three of their last five games, while West Indies have struggled as they have won just one from their last five.

Australia had played against Pakistan in their last game, where Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat. Pakistan started horribly, losing both their openers on ducks, but a fight from the lower middle order saved the day for them as they reached 313. Australia, too, did a fair job with the bat as they were bowled for 299. However, Pakistan could not repeat the heroics of the first innings as none of the batters found form, and they were bowled out for 115. Australia had no problems in chasing down such a small total as they won by eight wickets.

West Indies had squared off against India in their last encounter, where West Indies won the toss and elected to field. India decimated the West Indies with several batters playing fabulous knocks. They posted a huge total of 418 runs while, in return, the West Indies could only score 255. India again batted well in the second innings as they scored 181 and declared the innings, setting a target of 365 for their opponents. The West Indies were in a decent position of 76 runs for the loss of two wickets, and that is when the rain favored them, with the entire day five getting washed out and the match ending in a draw.
