Preview

Bangladesh will be up against Sri Lanka in the 2nd match of the Asia Cup 2023 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele on August 31. Bangladesh have been in decent form, with three wins in the last five matches. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, have been in brilliant form in this format, where they have won all their previous five games.

Bangladesh had squared off against Afghanistan in their last match, where Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat. It was a match Afghanistan would like to forget quickly due to their batting collapse. Azmatullah Omarzai was the lone batter to score some decent runs, and the team bundled out for just 126. Bangladesh lost a wicket early but obviously did not have any major problems chasing down the total and won the match comfortably by seven wickets with more than 26 overs to spare.

Sri Lanka had squared off against the Netherlands in their last encounter, where the Netherlands won the toss, and they elected to field. Sri Lanka were off to a decent start, which continued to get better as they reached a score of 180 for the loss of four wickets. That is when Netherlands bowlers tried to get back in the game and bowled out their opponents for just 233. The Netherlands would have been happy with limiting Sri Lanka to such a total, but the happiness was short-lived as soon they were made aware of the difference between the two sides. In reply, they were bowled out at a mere total of 105 and lost the match by 128 runs.
