Preview

England will be up against South Africa in the 20th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on October 21. England have not really arrived to the tournament, winning just one game of the three they have played so far. South Africa, on the other hand, has done well, with two wins from three matches, and are placed in the third position.

England squared off against Afghanistan in their last match, where England won the toss and elected to field. Afghanistan was off to a fantastic start, where Gurbaz dominated the proceedings with his knock of 80. They quite lost their way in the middle overs, but they finished well towards the end and ended up with 284 runs on the board. England did not start the way they would have wished for, as they lost their first wicket early and just kept losing one after the other. The inability to form partnerships led them to lose the match by 69 runs.

South Africa squared off against the Netherlands in their last match, where South Africa won the toss and elected to field. After a decent start, once the opening stand broke, they kept losing wickets in a heap and were reduced to 140 at the loss of seven wickets. Scott Edwards played a captain’s knock of 78, which took his team to a good score of 245 in a reduced match of 43 overs a side. South Africa could never really start the way they would have wished and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Netherlands gave a huge setback to the tournament, winning the match by 38 runs over South Africa.
