Preview

The opening ODI of the Women's Ashes 2023 between England Women (EN-W) and Australia Women (AUS-W) is scheduled to take place at the County Ground in Bristol on July 12. In December 2022, England Women (EN-W) participated in an ODI series to completely demolish the West Indies and win the series. Intriguingly, they batted first in each of the three ODI matches, posting above-average totals to psychologically dominate the West Indies team at the conclusion of the first innings. This led them to weaken the West Indies in the second inning by bowling them out for low totals like 165, 118, and 105. The West Indies batting order was completely dismantled by the English bowlers, who also took all 30 wickets in the series. However, they have lost all ten wickets against the Australians in four of five games in a row, which is a huge concern for them. If the English bowlers contribute to this series, they will put on an impressive performance.

Australia Women (AUS-W) are the undisputed favourites in this ODI series because of their rich reputation against England and their intense desire to repay their defeat in the recent T20I series. In January 2023, the Australian team played Pakistan in an ODI series. Since they were bowling first for a few games, the series faced low scores as bowlers put on an incredible performance to eliminate Pakistan's batting lineup for less than 170 runs in a couple of games. And in the series decider, the Australians batted first and put up a huge total of 336 for nine wickets to comfortably take the series. Therefore, Australia's batting unit will be their key for this series.
