Preview

Kent will lock horns with Somerset in the 26th match of the Vitality Blast 2023 at the St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury on May 30. Kent have played two matches where they have won and lost a match each and are placed at the third position in the rankings of South Group. Somerset, on the other hand, have played three matches where they have won all three and are sitting comfortably at the top of the table of South Group.

Kent had played against Surrey in their last match where the toss was won by Kent and they chose to field. Surrey had a decent start where they had an average scoring rate but kept losing wickets as well. To bat at six, then came Sean Abbott who turned the match upside down on his own. He hit a fluent century off just 41 balls and remained unbeaten as well. Along with Jordan Clark, he put up an unbeaten partnership of 129 runs for the sixth wicket and so Surrey posted a mammoth total of 223 runs. Kent did not back away from the fight and scored 108 runs for their opening partnership. Then they started losing wickets and lost in a bunch, which put them way back in the chase. By the end, they could just score 182 runs and lost the match by 41 runs.
Somerset squared off against Glamorgan in their last encounter where Somerset won the toss and elected to field. Glamorgan had a decent start which was turned into brilliant play with their fabulous second wicket partnership. However, after that they seemed to have lost track as they kept losing wickets and the run-rate went down significantly. They could not even play the complete innings and were folded out for a score of 153. Every bowler from Somerset received at least a wicket each. After dominating with the ball, Somerset returned to dominate with the bat and they did so in style. They lost a few wickets in quick succession but the chase was just a formality by then. Somerset won the match by four wickets and with more than five overs to spare.
