Preview

Lancashire will lock horns with Worcestershire in the 56th match of the Vitality Blast 2023 at Stanley Park in Blackpool on June 7. Lancashire have won three matches from their seven and are placed at the fifth position in the rankings of the North Group. Worcestershire, on the other hand, have won four of their five matches and are at the top of the table in the North Group.

Lancashire had played against Nottinghamshire in their last encounter, where Lancashire won the toss and elected to bat. They had a quick start, scoring 33 runs for the first wicket within 3.2 overs. Then they started losing wickets, and the scoring rate slowed down a little. Eventually, the scoring rate fell significantly, and the fall of wickets got much more regular. They could only score 145 runs before being bowled out in the 19th over. Nottinghamshire had a brilliant start to the chase, scoring 58 runs within 5.3 overs for the first wicket. Although they lost a couple of wickets, they did not stop and chased down the score in the 19th over. Nottinghamshire won the match by five wickets.

Worcestershire had squared off against Northamptonshire in their last match, where Northamptonshire won the toss and elected to field. Worcestershire lost their in-form batter, Bracewell, early, but a good second-wicket partnership steadied the ship for the time being. There were further few good innings played by some players here and there which helped the team post a good total of 178 runs at the loss of six wickets. Northamptonshire, while chasing, had a rather slow start, but after losing their first wicket, they came back to their senses. Saif Zaib played match-winning innings of 70 runs off just 35 balls, and they won the match in the last over of the game.
