Lahore Qalandars will lock horns with Multan Sultans in the final match of the Pakistan Super League at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on March 18. Lahore Qalandars finished at the top of the table at the end of the league stage. They played a total of 10 matches and won seven. Multan Sultans won six games out of the ten and finished in the second position in the standings.
Qalandars played against Peshawar Zalmi in their last encounter, where Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and elected to bat. Peshawar lost a wicket early, but a solid second-wicket partnership kept them in the game and put them in a commanding position. Mohammad Haris played a superb knock of 85 runs at a strike rate of 157. Peshawar put up a good total of 171 runs for the loss of five wickets. Like their counterparts, Qalandars lost a quick wicket as well, but a complete batting effort from the team, including a fine half-century from Mirza Baig, meant a successful run chase for them. Qalandars won the match by four wickets with seven balls to spare.
Sultans squared off against Lahore Qalandars in their last match, where Multan Sultans won the toss, and they chose to bat. Sultans started well on a pitch that was a little sticky and the ball was gripping. Kieron Pollard’s knock made them reach a strong total from a par score, and he was rightly adjudged Player of the Match for his efforts. Sultans posted a target of 161 runs for Qalandars to chase. On the other hand, Qalandars did not have a favorable batting day, as only three of their batters could reach a double-digit score. Qalandars were bundled out at a mere score of 76, and Sultans won the match by a huge margin of 84 runs while booking their seat in the finals.
