Preview

Netherlands will be up against Sri Lanka in the 19th match of the Cricket World Cup at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on October 21. The Netherlands have won just one game out of the three that they have played and are placed eighth. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, are yet to win any match so far and are languishing at the bottom of the table.

The Netherlands squared off against South Africa in their last match, where South Africa won the toss and elected to field. After a decent start, once the opening stand broke, they kept losing wickets in a heap and were reduced to 140 at the loss of seven wickets. Scott Edwards played a captain’s knock of 78, which took his team to a good score of 245 in a reduced match of 43 overs a side. South Africa could never really start the way they would have wished and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. The Netherlands gave a huge setback to the tournament, winning the match by 38 runs over South Africa.

Sri Lanka played against Australia in their last match, where Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat. They were off to a fantastic start as both their openers looked to be in great touch, amassing 125 runs for the first wicket. Both the openers notched up their fifties, but as soon as they fell, the entire team fell one after the other, being bowled out for just 209. Australia seemed to fumble even in this small target at the start. They lost two wickets early but was followed by good partnerships later on and eventually won the match by five wickets.
