Preview

New Zealand will be up against Bangladesh in the 3rd T20I of the Bangladesh tour of New Zealand at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on December 31. The three-match series is placed in an interesting position where the first match was won by Bangladesh while the second game was washed away. New Zealand would be hoping for the match to happen so that they can draw the series.

Both these teams had squared off against each other in their last encounter, which was held at the same location where Bangladesh had won the toss and elected to bowl. Being put to bat, they did not start as they lost the first wicket at the score of just nine. However, the second partnership worth 49 runs between Tim Seifert and Daryl Mitchell steadied their ship. By the end of 11 overs, they had scored 72 runs at the loss of two wickets and that is when rain arrived and the match could not be proceeded further.

In the previous game, New Zealand had a poor start and soon found themselves in a dreadful situation after losing three wickets in the space of one run. Then, the middle order took over and calmed the storm, but they were still losing wickets often. Despite losing nine wickets, they scored a respectable 134 runs. Bangladesh lost an early wicket when they came to bat as well, but they were made whole by two successive strong partnerships that put them in the lead. With a steady 42-run score, Litton Das held his footing from start to finish. They won the match by five wickets and with eight balls remaining in the game.
