New Zealand women (NZ W) will be taking on England women (ENG W) in the first ODI of the series. The match is set to take place at Basin Reserve in Wellington on the 1st of April 2024 at 3:30 AM (IST). It is the same venue where the last match between the two sides took place in the T20I series. Both the teams would be looking forward to start the series on a good note which would give them momentum to dominate the rest of the series.
England women have the momentum coming into the ODI series. They won the T20I series 4-1 and stunned the home side. On paper, they seem to have a better team compared to New Zealand women. They have some of the best players in the world like Natalie Sciver Brunt, Heather Knight, Alica Capsey, Charlie Dean, Lauren Bell, Sophie Dunkley, Tammy Beaumont, and others. They had to bench Danni Wyatt in all the games in the T20I series.
New Zealand has a mix of talented and experienced ones. They have the likes of Sophie Devine, Suzie Bates, Amelia Kerr, Lea Tahuhu, Fran Jonas, and many other good players in the lineup. Unfortunately, not many of them have fired with the bat. Basin Reserve is one of the best batting surfaces in the world. The key for both teams would be to bat well and post a good total on the board. The players would be looking forward to the match which would be crucial ahead of the upcoming ODI World Cup.
