Preview

Scorchers Women will lock horns with Dragon’s Women in the 5th match of the Super Series T20 at the Anglesea Road Cricket Ground in Dublin on May 14. Scorchers Women have won two of two matches so far and are sitting comfortably at the top of the table. Dragon’s Women, on the other hand, have played three matches where they are yet to win any. They are placed at the bottom of the table.

Scorchers Women had played against Dragon’s Women itself in their last encounter where Scorchers Women won the toss and elected to bowl. Dragon’s Women started off well, utilising the powerplay to its merit. But as the game progressed, the pitch got slower and Amy Caulfield got much slower. When she was caught out in the 14th over, she had scored just 17 runs while playing as many as 45 balls. However, Amy Hunter remained unaffected by what was going around as she played a brilliant knock and notched up her fifty. She scored 60 runs off 52 balls before she was bowled out by MacMahon. The team could not form any significant partnerships thereafter and so a decent total of 113 runs at the loss of four wickets was posted for Scorchers to chase. Even though the pitch had gotten much slower than before, they seemed to be quite unaffected by it. They put on a good opening partnership of 39 runs and were scoring ahead of the required run-rate. Mary Musonda was particularly playing well before she got unlucky and was given a run-out. Other batters who came later did not let the match slip away and were scoring decently. Sophie and Lara finished the match well and Scorchers chased down the target with around three overs to spare, which would be considered a huge win. They won the match by seven wickets. Dragon’s Women would look forward to changing the result of the game this time around and win the game.
