Preview

Sri Lanka will cross swords with Afghanistan in the second ODI of the three-match series at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele on February 11, Sunday.

After losing the toss, Sri Lanka were tasked to bat first. They racked up a whopping total of 381/3 in 50 overs. Opener Pathum Nissanka smacked an unbeaten 210-run knock in 139 balls with 20 fours and eight sixes.

Nissanka received good support from Avishka Fernando, who scored 88 runs in 88 balls, including eight fours and three sixes. Later, in the death overs, Sadeera Samarawickrama smacked 45 runs in 36 balls, featuring four fours and one six. Fareed Malik scalped two wickets for Afghanistan, while Mohammad Nabi claimed one wicket.

In the chase, Afghanistan were reduced to 55/5 in 8.3 overs, thanks to Pramod Madushan and Dushmantha Chameera's pace and swing bowling. However, Azmatullah Omarzai (149*) and Mohammad Nabi (136) forged a 242-run stand for the sixth wicket to slightly turn the tables towards their side.

Nevertheless, Sri Lanka's dominating target assured them a win with Madhushan picking up Nabi's wicket in the 46th over. Both sides would be aiming to put their best foot forward in the second ODI and it would be interesting to watch which side comes out on top.
