Preview

Sri Lanka (SL) will be up against Afghanistan (AFG) in the 3rd ODI of the Afghanistan tour of Sri Lanka at the Pallekel International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele on February 14. Sri Lanka have been bossing the series so far winning both the matches of the series and have already won the series. They would be looking for the clean sweep as well here.

Both these teams had squared off against each other in the last game which was the second game of the series and was played at the same venue where Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat. They did not start well and were reduced to 36 runs for two wickets, however, the middle order of Sri Lanka came to the party as four players successively made fifties. Although Charith Asalanka did remain unbeaten by the end, he missed out on his century by just three runs as he provided a brilliant finish and took the team to a total of 308 runs.

Afghanistan had a good total ahead of them for the chase and needed to start well for it. They lost Rahmanullah Gurbaz early on in the seventh over itself but Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmat Shah joined hands to stitch together a partnership worth 97 runs. Both these batters notched up their fifties but after they were gone, no other batters could take up the responsibility. Batters kept coming and going one after the other. From being 143 for two to being all out at 153, Afghanistan had one of the worst collapses as they lost the game by 155 runs.
