The destructive left-handers Devon Conway and David Miller pair routed the opponent in the later stages of the inning by exhibiting their explosive batting skills to go 181 for 6 in the first innings. Fledgling leg-spinner Mohammad Mohsin, with a career-best four wickets for eight runs from three overs for the Super Kings, ensured their effortless victory to begin the competition. TSK took all ten wickets on this batting-aided surface.
The Washington Freedom squared off against the Seattle Orcas to begin the proceedings, and WAF was invited to bat. There were no significant contributions from any of the batters, though they have some strong overseas names in their squad. Much expected, Glenn Phillips and skipper Moises Henriques scored 20 plus; the rest stumbled except Akeal Hosein, who stood there to make 33 (22), giving his side a respectable total. They bounced back well through their bowlers to take this game to the last over with the help of economical spells, and that was the only takeaway for WAF in their first game.
