Preview

UAE will be up against New Zealand in the 1st T20I match of the New Zealand Tour of the UAE at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on August 17. Both the teams have been in decent form in this format recently. They have each won two matches from their last five T20I matches.

UAE had squared off against Afghanistan in their last encounter, where Afghanistan had won the toss and elected to field. UAE had a dreamy start as their openers slammed half-centuries each, amassing 129 runs for the opening stand. However, the batters who followed next could not carry it forward well and by the end of the innings, could score 163 runs only. Afghanistan had a decent start to the chase and had several good partnerships in their innings. Half-centuries from Ibrahim Zadran and Karim Janat ensured Afghanistan won the match by six wickets.

New Zealand had played against Pakistan in their last encounter, where New Zealand had won the toss and elected to field. Pakistan made a brilliant start by having an opening stand of 51 runs. They lost three wickets on the trot, but a fantastic fourth-wicket partnership did not let them lose track. They finished with a massive total of 193 runs on the board. On the other hand, New Zealand had not started well and had already lost three wickets for a score of 26. Mark Chapman did not let go of the challenge and made a brilliant century which not just brought them back on track and won them the game by six wickets.
