Wellington Women will lock horns with Canterbury Women in the Final match of the Women’s Super Smash T20 at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch on February 11. After the end of the league stage, Wellington finished at the top spot in the points table with 34 points and eight wins under their belt, while Canterbury had won six matches from their quota of 10 games and finished in third position.

Wellington played their last match against Auckland Women; they lost the toss and were asked to field. The pitch was a little tricky to bat on, but Auckland managed to score 131 runs for the loss of six wickets. Leigh Kasperek took three wickets and was the top-performing bowler for them. Wellington never really came to the chase, with just two batters scoring in double-digits. They could only manage to score 87 runs before getting bundled out. Auckland won the match by a good margin of 44 runs. Canterbury played the eliminator match against Otago, where they won the toss and chose to field. The game was affected by rain and shortened to 13 overs a side. Otago could only score 81 runs after losing nine wickets, with Sarah Asmussen taking a fifer. Canterbury chased down the target with three balls to spare and won the match by seven wickets. Laura Hughes played a quickfire innings of 28 off 17 balls.
