Krunal Pandya has been one of the most popular names going around in the Indian domestic circuit in the past couple of years. After a wonderful stint with the Mumbai Indians, the lad finally made his international debut in October 2018 against the Windies. Since then, he has been going in-and-out of the T20I team. However, in recent times, some wonderful performances for India in shortest format has made him one of the most integral parts of the setup and the ace all-rounder is likely to play an important part for the team in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

In the recently-concluded T20I series against the Windies, the senior Pandya was adjudged the man of the series for his scintillating performances with both bat and ball. With the bat, the 28-year-old hit 32 runs in 3 games, while with the ball, he struck a total of 3 wickets in 3 games. This handy performance is very likely to cement his spot in the team.

However, Krunal does not look satisfied with this much of fame and is looking forward to breaking into the One Day team. The Baroda-born-cricketer termed this feat as a beginning and said that he is looking forward to carrying his form in the next series. He further added that he isn’t willing to rest on his awards and wants to break into the ODI team, as soon as possible.

“The Windies series was a big confidence booster. It was the first series of the season and to do well against some quality players always helps. This is just the beginning and I will look to carry this forward into the next series. Looking to stay true to my goal and play across formats. That is an area of focus and I have played one-days for India ‘A’ in the last two years and the experience has given me confidence that I can rise to the challenge,” Krunal said as quoted by News 18.

The dream is to represent India in the T20 World Cup

Later on, Krunal Pandya talked about his plans for the coming years and how he is looking forward to wearing the Indian colours in the upcoming T20 World Cup. The Indian captain had also recently told in the presentation ceremony that the preparations for the much-awaited tournament have begun and hence, the players have already started their training.

“The dream is to represent India in the World T20. Every performance will matter, but that is a long term goal. For now, it is about making it to the team in the next series and then do well. If I manage to keep performing, the goal of playing in the World T20 in Australia will obviously be fulfilled. However, for now, the focus is the next series against South Africa. Always important to take it one at a time,” the Southpaw added.
