Former Pakistan pacer Mohmmad Amir is known for his aggressive nature as he doesn’t mind showcasing his emotions on the field. Although he has found himself in hot waters for the same on several occasions, aggression is something which brings the best out of the left-arm pacer. Amir was all charged up during the first Qualifier of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2021, playing for the Galle Gladiators.
The track hardly had any assistance for bowlers as the Gladiators posted 188/5 while batting first at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium in Hambantota. With a massive target on the board, Jaffna Kings required a fiery start and opener Avishka Fernando was aware of the same. Amir was given the first over the second innings and Fernando welcomed him with a first-ball six.

It was a good-length delivery and Fernando flicked the ball for a six between the deep square-leg and the deep mid-wicket boundary. Needless to mention, Amir wasn’t amused but he took his revenge in the very next delivery. The speedster unleashed a full-length delivery which pierced Fernando’s defenses and smashed the off-stump.

Amir was delighted and the same was evident in his gesture. The 29-year-old was charged up as he gave Fernando a fiery send-off, saying few words to the young opener. The video of the whole incident went viral in no time as netizens came up with different reactions. It must be noted that Amir had announced his retirement from international cricket in 2020 amid issues with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and management.
However, the left-arm pacer still has a lot of fire in his tank and the same was evident in his lethal spell against the Kings. Amir finished with figures of 3/22 in three overs as the Gladiators walked away with a comprehensive 64-run triumph. Meanwhile, Nuwan Thushara was Gladiators’ stand-out bowler as he took a thrilling five-wicket haul.
Earlier in the game, Danushka Gunathilaka and Kusal Mendis slammed 55 and 85 respectively as the Galle-based team advanced to 188/5 in their allotted 20 overs. While the Gladitors advanced to the final clash with this win, Jaffna Kings will now battle it out with Dambulla Giants in Qualifier 2 with the other place in the summit clash at stakes.
