Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), playing in just their second Indian Premier League (IPL) season, defeated five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) in the league stage but got beaten up by them in the crucial eliminator clash to get knocked out of the competition.
Playing in their maiden campaign last year, KL Rahul-led LSG began their IPL journey on a very positive note as they qualified for the Playoffs. After the completion of 14 league matches, they finished in the third spot with nine wins. Their campaign ended with a loss at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore in the eliminator clash in Kolkata.
On the other hand, Rohit Sharma’s MI suffered their worst season as they ended up at the bottom, the tenth position in the table. The most successful side in the competition beat LSG in the eliminator in IPL 2023 to progress further in the tournament.
