Wasim Akram, the former Pakistan cricketer admires Virat Kohli a lot. He recently claimed that the Indian skipper would have made life difficult for the best bowlers of the past. However, Waqar Younis doesn’t agree with the opinion of his former teammate and feels that he had bowled to some of the all-time best batsmen in cricket.

Waqar Younis is undoubtedly one of the best swing bowlers that Pakistan has ever produced in its cricketing history. His late swing used to create a lot of difficulty for the batsmen. He was simply unplayable in the bowler-friendly conditions and was a nightmare for the batters.

The 48-year-old donned the national jersey in 87 Tests and 262 ODIs in which he grabbed a total of 789 wickets with 45 five-wicket hauls and 42 four-wicket hauls across all the formats. And now, he is working as the bowling coach with Pakistan cricket team.

‘I made a name by bowling to many great players’: Waqar Younis

The former pacer was also given nicknames like Burewala Express and The Toe Crusher by the fans. His lethal pace, late swing and yorkers used to make life difficult for the batsmen on the crease. Recently, Waqar Younis said that it is wrong to say that he along with other legendary bowlers never came across a batsman equivalent to Virat Kohli. The former fast bowler added the fact that he bowled some of the all-time greats like Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Martin Crowe and Viv Richards.

The 48-year-old also recited that he earned the reputation of being a great bowler by bowling against many great batsmen. According to him, he had the ability to dismiss the batsmen during his cricketing days. And, it would have not changed if he was playing in modern-day cricket.

“I won’t give such a statement because it will be wrong to say that we did not have a player like Virat Kohli during our playing days. I bowled against few of the best batsmen in the world such as Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Martin Crowe and Viv Richards,” Waqar Younis said as quoted by CricketPakistan.com.

“I made a name for myself by bowling to such great players. I will put a question mark on this statement because I had some skills about getting batsmen out, back in the day, and it would not have changed even if I was playing these days as well,” Younis added.
