Recently, the news of Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise had shocked everyone in India and abroad. The actor was found dead in his Bandra home on June 14, 2020. The police claimed the actor had committed suicide. The news broke the heart of many Bollywood fans but it also had a similar effect on cricket fans as well. The actor was only 34 years old but had played some really praise-worthy roles in some Hindi movies. One of them was ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story.’
His role as the former Indian captain was quite fantastic and everyone praised him for blending so well with the role. Sometimes, it was difficult to understand whether he was the real Dhoni or reel Dhoni. The actor had worked extremely hard to gain insights into the cricketer’s life and also learned batting from former Indian wicketkeeper Kiran More as well as Dhoni’s childhood coach Keshav Banerjee for the signature ‘helicopter shot’.

Recently, in an interview, the director of the movie, Neeraj Pandey has spoken on XtraTime. During this interaction, Pandey revealed that MS Dhoni himself was too heartbroken after hearing about this news. “Apart from calling Mahi bhai, I have also called two of his best friends Mihir Diwakar and Arun Pandey. They all seemed very upset with such a piece of terrible news. Mahi bhai was in a shock to hear the news and got shattered,” Neeraj Pandey said as quoted by Sify.
The actor had put in a lot of hard work in bringing the character out properly on the silver screen. Sushant even managed to do that, something which not a lot of actors have done well when it comes to a biopic. From copying his walking style to his cricket shots, Sushant did quite well to look like the ex-Indian captain. This helped the movie to garner a large sum of money at the box-office. Dhoni had spent a lot of time with Sushant before the shoot and also during the promotions of the movie.
“He (Sushant) put in a lot of hard work to depict the character to perfection. We are grateful to Kiran More sir as he worked with Sushant, grooming him for almost nine months. Even Mahi Bhai was spellbound to see Sushant’s dedication for his biopic,” the director added that Dhoni was key while choosing the right actor to play him.
Earlier it was revealed by Arun Pandey, producer of the biopic, that Dhoni has been in shock after hearing the news.
