Kuldeep Yadav, India’s young chinaman bowler, has said that Mahendra Singh Dhoni judges his performance better than anyone. The left-arm spinner has been warming the bench so far in the ongoing ODI series between India and Sri Lanka. Though, there is a possibility he can get a chance now as India have won the series with a couple of games to spare.

The youngster was talking to media ahead of the fourth ODI in Colombo and revealed his plans of bowling to the opposition batsmen. He also spoke about how he approaches the game and the way he has improved as a spinner during West Indies and Sri Lanka tours.

Kuldeep claimed that he is not an attacking bowler and loves to pick wickets for the team every time he bowls. “My style is not to attack the batsman. If I go to attack a batsman then I might end up going for more runs. I always try to restrict the batsman and exert pressure on them. The main motive is to go for a wicket which benefits the team,” he said.

I have improved a lot as a spinner

The 22-year-old said that he has improved a lot as a spinner during the tours of West Indies and Sri Lanka. “A spinner evolves as a player with more opportunities. I have learnt a lot as a bowler, how to handle pressure. The more you play, you will face different batsmen. Sometimes you feel the pressure on the field and in last six months, I have learnt a lot how to improve my bowling,” the chinaman added.

He also believed that the Virat’s confidence in him has helped him a lot in the matches while bowling. “Virat bhai has been asking me to focus on my fitness more. He wants me to do more hard work in my bowling and fitness. I think this is a good thing that skipper believes in you as it gives us more confidence,” he said.

When asked about the experience of sharing the dressing room with MS Dhoni, he said, “There is no comparison. Nobody can judge you and your performance better than him. He keeps interacting with us while being behind the stumps. I feel that I will be a part of his 300th ODI. You get to learn a lot if you are playing with a legend like him.”
