MS Dhoni, along with his other Chennai Super Kings teammates, landed down in Chennai to flag off their IPL 2020 preparations. Ahead of the much-awaited tournament, set to unfold in the UAE from September 19th, CSK is the only team to host a training camp ahead of this year’s IPL.
The week-long camp of CSK will begin on Sunday at the M.A. Chidambaram stadium. Along with skipper Dhoni, the likes of Suresh Raina, Piyush Chawla, Karn Sharma and Deepak Chahar also arrived in Chennai. During their flight, Dhoni’s deputy Raina shared a selfie featuring several CSK members.
Dhoni’s better-half, Sakshi was also quick to react to the photo as she commented that the skipper was finally reunited with his CSK teammates. “Reunited,” Sakshi left a comment on Raina’s Instagram picture. Along with Sakshi, lakhs of CSK fans couldn’t hold back their excitement after seeing their beloved skipper.
A day after Dhoni’s departure, Sakshi also shared glimpses of their new car, which seemed to be a red Dodge Challenger. While sharing a clip and picture of the automobile, Sakshi wrote that she was missing ‘Mahi’ at that moment.
MS Dhoni and CSK players to leave for UAE on August 21st
Dhoni, meanwhile, will be getting in rhythm during the training camp at Chepauk. After staying away from the sport for more than a year, Dhoni will be eager to return back while donning the CSK jersey. The veteran’s last on-field appearance was against New Zealand in the semi-final of the 2019 World Cup.
Following India’s 2019 World Cup oust, Dhoni has stayed away from international cricket. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, he was spending time at his Ranchi farmhouse with his family. The wait of ardent Dhoni fans is set to end when the extravaganza of IPL 2020 unfolds in the UAE from September 19th.
The Chennai franchise, after finishing as runners-up last year, will be looking to clinch their fourth IPL title in this edition of the IPL. The cash-rich league, amid the pandemic, will be played in the UAE this year, with the final of the tournament locked on November 10th. All matches of the tournament will be played across three venues– Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
