Cricket Australia is currently facing an embarrassing controversy of ball tampering. The former Indian opener and cricket analyst Sanjay Manjrekar is concerned about Australian men and women’s teams’ behaviour on the field. He took to Twitter to vent his anger on the Aussie side.

He was left with brutal disappointment when Harmanpreet Kaur played a 171-run unbeaten knock in the World Cup  2017 against Australia and the opposition hardly cared about her performance. None of the Aussie players applauded the inspirational knock of the vice-captain Kaur.

Manjrekar calls Aussies out on Twitter

Manjrekar wrote on his Twitter handle “Will never forget a sight that made me quite angry at the time. Harmanpreet Kaur had just played one of the all-time great innings of 171 n. o in the Women’s World Cup semi-final in England last year. At the end of the innings, not one Australian player waited for Kaur to leave field first. Forget applause, there was not even an acknowledgement of one of the greatest performances seen in women’s cricket,” Manjrekar wrote.

“Instead, the Aussie women were seen walking away like an army battalion whose pride had been hurt and could not wait to get back on the front T teach the ‘enemy’ a lesson. As it turned out, Australia lost that game easily. Australian cricketers for some reason are convinced that showing grace on the field makes them weaker as opponents, when actually there is no connection between the two, as it was seen in this Women’s game,” he concluded.

However, these comments from Manjrekar didn’t go well the Aussie women’s team wicket-keeper Alyssa Healy. She criticized Sanjay for the poor timing of the tweet and is ready to discuss the tweet in person.

“This makes me really mad. Completely unfair and very poorly timed. Why are you trying to drag our game down as well? Happy to discuss this with you in person instead of you just throwing these comments out there.”

Manjrekar is yet to respond to the tweet by Healy. As she is currently in India for the tri-series, she might get a chance to have a chat with Manjrekar and solve the issue in person. The Aussie women’s team is currently touring India for the tri-series against India and England. They will take on England in the final of the series on March 31, Saturday.
