Marlon Samuels was the hero for the West Indies in the fifth ODI with a wonderfully compiled 92. However, a disaster presented itself when the 35-year old Jamaican got caught in a sledging row with Australian wicket-keeper Matthew Wade. The incident reportedly occurred during a decent spell from Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa. It was a small period of play where Zampa bowled just the one over in his spell.

It was high intense drama as the over began with a dropped catch. Despite this, it was followed up with three sixes off the bat of Marlon Samuels and finally ended with a run out. Samuels had indeed battled confidently in their chase of 266. However, after the dropped catch, Matthew Wade made an attempt to distract the batsmen with a few words or a sledge.

The ploy initially didn’t work as Samuels smashed two massive sixes in the following two deliveries. However, the fourth delivery saw Wade involved in the run out of Samuels as the latter made his way back to the haven of the pavilion after having smashed a match-winning 92 off 87 deliveries.

On his way back to the dressing shed, Wade had a few follow-up words with Samuels. In spite of claiming the wicket, the West Indies went on to claim an entertaining and easy victory over the Aussies in the fifth ODI of the ongoing Tri-Series 2016. While the Aussies have been known to stir up players in the opposition by sledging, this certainly isn’t the first time Marlon Samuels has been involved in such an incident.

Samuels also has a tussle with Shane Warne as the two players featured in the Big Bash League some years ago. The incident got compounded when Warne began to grab the shirt of Samuels after bowling to him.
