Former Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza recently breached the bio-secure protocols as he went to meet his teammates who are inside the bio bubble of Bangabandhu T20 Cup. However, he has come up with a straight apology after his unintentional move. BCB officials stated that Mortaza isn’t part of the same bio-bubble but just landed in for a surprise visit at the BCB academy. He came only for his individual training session.

Mortaza’s surprise visit created some stir in the lot, and he went on to meet the players inside the bio bubble. However, it has been cleared by BCB officials that it was an unintentional act, and he has apologized for the same. He played competitive cricket last eight months ago in the Dhaka Premier League.

Actually, it was an unintentional mistake by Mashrafe Mortaza: BCB officials

“Actually, it was an unintentional mistake (breaking the bio-bubble and getting into the academy premises) by Mashrafe, and he is sorry for that. We will make sure he doesn’t repeat the mistake, but at the same time, we have to say that he did not get close to the cricketers and maintained a six-foot distance. Taking that into consideration, I don’t think he had put anyone at risk,” stated BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Actually, Mortaza was supposed to train inside, but he had some confusion and went to the academy premises. There he came in contact with other players who were training inside bio-bubble for Bangabandhu T20 Cup. His name was earlier not mentioned in the drafts as he had a knee injury but can now be named in the team if he seems fit. He couldn’t even take part in the BCB President’s Cup after testing positive for COVID-19.

“He is practicing on his own after corona, and now he wants to reduce his weight so, I am trying to help him,” said BCB trainer Tushar Kanti.

When Mortaza came for his training session, he was found to be a bit overweight, and therefore, he is doing his exercise and drills regularly to reduce some bodyweight.
