Veteran Bangladesh cricketer Mashrafe Mortaza is working hard to prolong his stay in the national side. His services to the team is very vital. Mashrafe, who plays only one format for the national side now, retired from the other two in order to focus on the longevity of his career. Currently, team Bangladesh is witnessing a resurgence of sorts in international cricket.

They had a dream run in the previous season where they finished as the semi-finalists in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017. Interestingly, it was Mashrafe Mortaza who had led them in the tournament. In their most recent international assignment, Bangladesh pipped Sri Lanka twice in the Nidahas Trophy to finish as the finalists – albeit sans Mortaza. Certainly, cricket in Bangladesh is on the rise and Mashrafe is very pleased about it.

Also, there is another team that is making some serious progress in world cricket – team Afghanistan. As per the recent quotes in bdcrictime, Mashrafe Mortaza showered praises on the Afghanistani side. In the recent days, there have been news about Afghanistan hosting Bangladesh in India. The two sides are expected to lock horns in Dehradun for a limited overs series.

Quality spinners in Afghanistan

Ahead of the series, Mashrafe has said some very motivating things for the opposition. Afghanistan recently won the ICC World Cup Qualifiers 2018 to enter the World Cup 2019. They beat the tournament favorites Windies twice in the tournament. They look high on confidence. Mashrafe noted that when Bangladesh plays Afghanistan, it will be a tough ask for them considering the fact that Afghanistan boasts of quality spinners like Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Rahman.

“Afghanistan are a good team. Their spinners are almost right now. Therefore, it won’t be easy to handle them, especially considering how we struggled against spinners in the Nidahas trophy. We will have to play world class spinners [against Afghanistan], so it won’t be an easy job,” Mashrafe Mortaza quoted.
