Mayank Agarwal is in the form of his life. It’s not been a year since he forayed into Test cricket and has already made the opening slot his own. The Karnataka batter had the privilege of making his debut on December 2018 against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Ever since, he hasn’t put a foot wrong. Lately, the 28-year-old churned out his second double ton in Tests.

It came versus Bangladesh on the second day of the Indore Test at the Holkar Stadium. Such was his level of dominance that he muscled his way to the ton with a monstrous six over wide long on off Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Though he got out to the same bowler, his knock of 243 off 330 balls with 28 fours and eight sixes put India on the driver’s seat, helping them to a lead of 343 runs.

India ended their first innings with a mammoth score of 493 for the loss of six wickets. After the first day’s play, he attended the media interaction. There he was asked about what he does on evenings after he plays a masterful inning for whichever team he represents.

What does Mayank Agarwal do on pleasant evenings?

“On a day like this, what do you do in the evenings in the hotel? Do you go watch the highlights of your innings? Or do you like watching a movie? Or a web series show? What do you do? What does Mayank do?,” a reporter asked him in the press conference.

Mayank was in a positive frame of mind and was oozing with confidence. That showed in his rather rib-tickling reply. The right-hander said that he prefers to play PUBG, a game popular among the young generations. “Mayank plays PUBG,” he replied.

Mayank has played only 12 innings in Test cricket in which he notched 858 runs at an average of 71.50. Six times he has passed the 50-run mark. India are way above the rest in the points table in the ICC World Test Championship and one of the reasons behind the same is Mayank. He along with Rohit Sharma have been a daunting prospect for the opponents in Tests off late.
