It is believed that KL Rahul is the next big thing in the Indian cricket. He is supremely talented and the batsman brought it to the fore during the final Test against England recently and also in the Indian Premier League (IPL) earlier this year. Though he had a poor Test series, Rahul ended it with a memorable knock. However, he feels that one has to be mentally strong to be successful at the highest level.

Rahul is currently with the Indian team in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) participating in the ongoing Asia Cup. But he is yet to get an opportunity with all the batsmen doing extremely well and the Men in Blue are on a winning spree. Ahead of the competition, he was tipped to play at number three position vacated by the rested captain Virat Kohli. The team management though favoured Ambati Rayudu in that position who has fared decently so far.

You will learn as you play more games

As far as KL Rahul’s international career is concerned, he is yet to cement his spot in the team across the formats. He is brimming with talent but consistency is lacking in him which the cricketer understands and wants to be in the correct frame of mind every time.

“The only way to be successful in international Cricket is to be mentally strong and relaxed but I think it comes with more time and experience and the more games you play, you get more experience; you realize how you can keep calm under pressure,” the 26-year-old said while speaking to scroll.in.

Looking forward to Australia tour

India are scheduled to tour Australia in November and Rahul is looking forward to it. He wants to play well in the home series against Windies first and then carry the momentum Down Under. It is going to be a big challenge as well as an opportunity to showcase their skills. They would go out there and give it their best shot and fight until the very end. We are looking to play good cricket in the coming one or two months and carry that momentum into Australian series,” he concluded.
