One of India’s best cricketers of all time, Rahul Dravid is celebrating his 47th birthday today and birthday wishes for the legend have poured in from all the corners of the world. Rahul had represented India in 164 Tests, 344 ODIs and a solitary T20I match where he amassed more than 23,000 international runs and played over 45,000 balls.

He even played for two IPL franchises during his career. The right-handed batsman started his IPL journey playing for his home franchise, Royal Challengers Bangalore however, because he could not lead RCB to a title in the first three years, the team management released him before the 2011 season. Dravid entered the IPL Auction where he was bought by Rajasthan Royals.

The Indian veteran unearthed many future stars like Ajinkya Rahane, Karun Nair, Sachin Baby, Sanju Samson and Pravin Tambe while playing for the Jaipur-based franchise. He was not only the captain of his side but he was a mentor for all the upcoming players. Dravid played his last IPL match against Mumbai Indians at Eden Gardens.

Rajasthan Royals wish ‘The Wall’ a happy birthday

As mentioned ahead, Rahul Dravid has played a major role in uplifting the Rajasthan Royals brand and the franchise thanked him for his services with a customized poster of Amitabh Bachchan’s Bollywood hit ‘Deewar’. The Hindi word ‘Deewar’ means the Wall which is Rahul Dravid’s nickname.

He had earned this nickname for his solid defensive technique in Test match cricket. The Madhya Pradesh-born star had played 31,258 balls in Test match cricket which shows why he is known as ‘The Wall’.

There is also a photograph of Dravid wearing the Rajasthan Royals helmet whereas the famous dialogue from that movie “Mere Paas Maa Hai” has been replaced by “Mere Paas Technique Hai”. Dravid had one of the best batting techniques which is why the modification is apt.
