India’s new all-format captain Rohit Sharma has been one of the talking points in the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka in terms of his first stint as Test captain. The man remains in the headlines off the field thanks to his hilarious press conferences. The 34-year-old was recently appointed the full-time skipper after Virat Kohli stepped down from the role in Tests after the South Africa tour.

Rohit is known to giving sarcastic replies in press conferences before and he likes to have funny conversations around despite being serious on the ground. He was seen sweating it out in the nets ahead of the upcoming Tests and he has transformed into an excellent red ball player in the last two to three years.

His numbers have been phenomenal in the short span of his Test career so far and will be interesting to see how he goes about his business as a Test skipper.

Rohit Sharma takes a dig at the reporters

In a video shared by BCCI on Twitter, Rohit Sharma was asked about the target he has set for himself and he noted that he doesn’t have any personal goals and rather is focusing on the team goals. He added that he is quite happy to have played around 40 Tests so far despite a lot of injuries taking a toll on his career.

In the process of answering the reporter’s question, Rohit interpreted the wrong meaning of the word “anban” which means arguments or differences. Rohit thought the meaning was ups and downs and the reporters went on to correct him on that. With a sheepish smile, the man mentioned that his Hindi isn’t that good.

Another reporter meanwhile, asked Rohit Sharma why he hasn’t told anything about the crowd returning to the stadium and the skipper was delighted to welcome it as one of the right questions. In the process, he also took a dig at other reporters for not asking him the right questions related to team combination and crowds.

India and Sri Lanka will battle it out in the first Test at the Punjab Cricket Association stadium in Mohali from the 4th of March.
