DC must win this match in order to qualify for the IPL 2022 playoffs.

The Mumbai Indians will be locking horns with the Delhi Capitals in Match 69 of IPL 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on May 21. This will be the final league game for both sides, but the contest has plenty on the line. The Royal Challengers Bangalore’s playoff berth is at stake and a win for the Capitals will knock them out of the competition.
It is because both DC and RCB will be equal on 16 points should DC get the better of MI. However, the Rishabh Pant-led side will advance to the last four on the basis of a superior net run rate. The Capitals would be hoping to do the double over the Mumbai Indians after a four-wicket win in the reverse fixture, however, the five-time champions have been coming good in the second half of this season. Mumbai went down to Sunrisers Hyderabad by three runs in the last game.
They ended arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings’ title defence in a low-scoring thriller last week and would now be hoping to play a spoilsport in Delhi’s campaign as well. DC, who have blown hot and cold in IPL 2022, have not looked back since their heavy 91-run loss to CSK a couple of weeks ago and have gone on to register impressive wins over northern rivals Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings in the last two games.
Pitch and conditions
The weather conditions in Mumbai are very hot and humid. This game will be played on a used wicket and is expected to slow down in the second half, which would benefit the spinners more than the pacers. Therefore, the captain winning the toss might look to have a bat.
Playing combinations for MI vs DC
Star all-rounder Kieron Pollard would once again be warming the bench and in-form emerging all-rounder Ramandeep Singh will get another chance where he would be hoping to prove his mettle yet again.
Predicted Playing XI: Ishan Kishan (wk), Rohit Sharma (c), Daniel Sams, Tilak Varma, Ramandeep Singh, Tristan Stubbs, Tim David, Sanjay Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Riley Meridith, Mayank Markhande
Even the Delhi Capitals will not be looking to tamper with their winning combination and look forward to fielding the same side. Prithvi Shaw, who has recovered from a viral infection, might not get a chance in the Playing XI and the team management could stick to David Warner and Sarfaraz Khan as openers.
Predicted Playing XI: David Warner, Sarfaraz Khan, Mitchell Marsh, Rishabh Pant (c & wk), Lalit Yadav, Rovman Powell, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Anrich Nortje, Khaleel Ahmed
