Former Australian captain Michael Clarke came up with a cheeky reply to a request made by Harbhajan Singh on the micro blogging site Twitter. During the third ODI between India and Australia at Indore, Clarke had expressed that the Australian team were possibly 40 runs short in their total. His tweet had come during the mid-innings break of the match which Australia eventually lost.

In response to this tweet, veteran Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh made a cheeky remark. He mentioned that Michael Clarke should come out of retirement and help the dwindling fortunes of the Australian team. The defeat in the Indore ODI was the 11th successive defeat for Australia in away matches in ODIs.

Harbhajan had expressed his concern over the lack of fight shown by the Australian batsmen in the match. At one stage, team Australia seemed to be cruising with Aaron Finch and Steve Smith going great guns. However, soon after the departure of Finch, the innings crashed like ten pins and the visitors could not even muster a total in excess of 300.

“Mate u need to come out of your retirement and start playing again I think.Era of Aussies producing top batsmans is over I feel.No quality,” Harbhajan Singh had tweeted.

Clarke’s response

Clarke, in his response to the request made by Harbhajan, remarked that he is happy with the new role that he is assigned. He noted that his legs have turned old. He further cheekily added that he is enjoying the air conditioned commentary box. Clarke hopes that the Australian team will do some home work and get things back on track for the remaining two ODIs in the series.

“I have only just seen this buddy. These old legs of mine are enjoying the air conditioned commentary box. Aussies have some work to do!,” responded Michael Clarke in his tweet.
