Michael Vaughan gets heavily trolled on Twitter after his 4-0 Aussie win prediction goes horribly wrong

At the start of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21, former England captain Micheal Vaughan had famously said that the Indian team will be whitewashed against the Australians. He had predicted that the Indian team will lose all the matches of this series and the scoreline will read 4-0. However, that didn’t happen as the Indian team against all the odds defeated the Aussies in their own backyard. 

After India lost the first Test in Adelaide, where they were infamously bowled out for just 36. Captain and India’s best batsman Virat Kohli then left the team to go back to India. Many experts had written off India at this moment. The former English skipper Vaughan once again put up a tweet referring to his prediction.

However, since the second Test, the Indian team looked more settled. Even though they had a few key players missing in that Test, they came back and beat the Australian side comprehensively. After which, the Indian team kept facing one challenge after another, and they kept knocking them off one by one.

In Sydney, they managed to bat 131 overs in the last inning to secure a draw. But at the Gabba, which was supposed to be the most difficult track for the Indian team, they didn’t lose their nerves and sealed a win on the final day. This gave a 2-1 series win to the Indians. 

It was very obvious that Micheal Vaughan was not getting spared by the Indian fans for his previous predictions. The ex-cricketer decided to be cheeky by putting a tweet reminding everyone what he had predicted. It was an attempt to maybe avoid a few trollers. It only added fuel to the fire. Fans unleashed a barrage of memes for the ex-cricketer on Twitter.

Australia had scored 369 in the first innings, in reply to which the Indian team managed to score 336 runs. In the second innings, Australia scored 294 runs, which took their lead to 327 runs. At the surface level and considering India’s history with unsuccessful run chases, it seemed that the score was going to be a bit too much for them.

However, Shubman Gill’s fine knock of 91 set up the chase for the Indians beautifully. It was carried on by Cheteshwar Pujara’s marathon stay at the crease, where he scored 56 runs. Finally, it was Rishabh Pant who turned the tide towards the Indians with an unbeaten score of 89.
