Former England captain Michael Vaughan has given his prediction for the finals of CT 2017. The veteran batsman has predicted that the final of Champions Trophy 2017 will be an encore of the 2013 finale with the Men in Blue taking on the Brits. Vaughan’s prophecy might just come true as both the teams have been performing impeccably in the tournament so far.

Led by skipper Virat Kohli, India has the perfect blend of players and can decimate any team that comes their way. The Indian top order comprising of Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat, Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni have all been run-getters for the team. The openers have been consistent in forming partnerships and thus giving the middle order the freedom to unleash their willow.

The winning streak is an indication of the carnage India are capable of though they lost against Sri Lanka but it was more about the spirited performance from Sri Lankans than India’s poor show. The bowling unit of the Indian team looks tight as well. The likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah, allows the captain to experiment with his bowlers which more often than not, pays off.

England, on the other hand, looks confident to win their second ICC tournament, after winning the World T20 in 2009. Led by Eoin Morgan, the hosts have left no stones unturned in preparing for the showpiece event. And quite clearly so. England defeated the Black Caps on Tuesday to become the first team to qualify for the semi-finals. The Three Lions have incredible firepower at the top and with the services of their wicketkeeper and hard-hitting batsman Jos Buttler and skipper Eoin Morgan, their batting unit is quite a force to reckon with.

Although England might lack experience in the bowling department, there’s no dearth of raw pace. Both Jake Ball and Mark Wood can easily tick the high 140s and they have the ability to swing it both ways in testing conditions. England finished runners-up in 2013 and have the home advantage this time as well. Considering the way the team has turned fortunes under Morgan post the 2015 World Cup debacle, England surely holds an edge and will be aiming to avenge their previous defeat against the Men in Blue if they face off in the finals.
