A lot was made of the banter between the Australian captain Tim Paine and the Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant. Both were having a go at each other during the third Test of the four-match series which India won by 137 runs. While it was the Aussie skipper to start the proceedings asking Pant to babysit his kids after the Test series, his counterpart behind the stumps has ended in the best possible manner.

There was a lot of talk about ‘not crossing the line’ before the series began while both the teams’ players expected for the things to get heated up at some point. But three matches down the line, nothing alarming has happened despite the Aussie media tried to make a piece of news on Virat Kohli‘s ‘You are the stand-in captain’ statement to Tim Paine which the Indian captain never said according to the BCCI’s statement.

Pant sees the lighter side

The players have been involved in the banter and sledging in this series but unlike India’s previous tours, everything has been on the field and there are no personal grudges between the cricketers. The same was witnessed between Tim Paine and Rishabh Pant. The latter actually spent some valuable time with Paine’s kids when the teams were at the Prime Minister’s residence on the New Year’s day.

Paine’s wife Bonnie Maggs (Paine) clicked a picture with Pant and kids only to post it on her Instagram story hilariously calling the Indian gloveman ‘babysitter’. Even the ICC’s official Twitter handle loved the gesture and highlighted it in a spirited and humorous way. Meanwhile, the former England cricketer Michael Vaughan who has keenly followed this series has also reacted on the matter and has liked this step from Pant.

Indirectly, Rishabh Pant has ended the banter in a positive way proving that there is no needle between him and Paine and that they do take these banters seriously and personally.
