Michael Vaughan reiterates a fact after Virat Kohli's masterful century

Former England captain Michael Vaughan was in awe of India’s Virat Kohli, who notched up his 36th ODI century against the Windies in Guwahati on Sunday. King Kohli, as he is commonly known, was in imperial form against the boys from the Caribbean. His knock of 140 from 107 deliveries made the chase of 323 look ridiculously easy. The skipper was well supported by opener Rohit Sharma, who initially played a subdued role, but went ballistic once his captain was dismissed.

Virat Kohli has had a spectacular year of international cricket. He’s scored runs in all parts of the world in all formats and has stamped his authority on the sport arguably as the greatest cricketer currently active. He’s rolled past records and milestones and is clearly hungry for more. Although his side hasn’t been entirely successful on overseas assignments, Kohli’s dominance as an individual player has been on the rise.

Guwahati witnesses a Kohli masterclass

After thumping the Windies in the two-match Test series, India began their World Cup preparations with an ODI series against the same opposition. The ACA Stadium in Guwahati, hosting its first ODI, was the stage for yet another Kohli masterclass. The Windies, however, piled up the runs in the first innings, led by a fabulous hundred by Shimron Hetmyer. His 78-ball 106 meant India had to once again chase down a 300+ total.

The hosts’ destructive opening combination of Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma weren’t able to provide the start needed from them, with the former being dismissed for just 4. Rohit was then joined by his skipper, and the two stitched together yet another 200-run partnership. Kohli was the first one to get to his century but kept going thereafter. His innings of 140 was laced with as many as 21 fours and 2 sixes.

Virat was eventually stumped by Devendra Bishoo, but he’d already done the damage. The skipper went home with the Man of the Match award as well. Vaughan, who’s previously been all praises for Virat Kohli, reiterated a fact in his tweet which read:
