Before the start of the 4 match Test series between India and Australia most of the cricketing pundits and experts were of the opinion that India would steamroll Australia by a 4-0 margin but what transpired in the opening Test left everyone dumbfounded. The Aussie spinners wrecked havoc and demolished the star-studded Indian batting line-up.

Left-arm spinner Steve O’Keefe was the wrecker-in-chief who finished with exceptional match figures of 12/70. Captain Steve Smith also scored a fighting century in the 2nd innings which ensured the visitors defeated India for the first time in their backyard in 13 years.

Even in the 2nd Test currently being played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, Australia is calling the shots at the end of Day 2. After bowling out the hosts for a meagre 189 runs in the 1st innings, the Aussies reached 237/6 at the end of Day 2. Given the condition of the pitch, the 48 runs lead is already a crucial one for the visitors and anything more tomorrow will be a bonus for them.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan who led England to an exceptional Ashes victory in 2005 has hailed the Aussie team and said they are on their way to become a proper Test team again. Openers Matt Renshaw and middle order batsman Shaun Marsh played the waiting game to perfection and showed wonderful temperament to notch up crucial half-centuries. Despite not scoring too much throughout the 2nd day, the Aussie kept the Indian bowlers at bay.

Taking to his twitter handle Vaughan wrote, “It’s just dawned on me that Australia is looking like a Proper Test match team again….. Its ruined my Sunday.” Vaughan was pretty pleased with the way Australia played and grinded throughout the 2nd day. Given the current scenario of the 2nd Test, it won’t be a huge surprise if Australi goes on to defeat the hosts again in the 2nd Test and gain an unassailable lead in the 4 match series.
