In a very delighting news for the cricket fans, a milkman’s son from Ranchi has made it to the national side. Pankaj Yadav, who is a right arm spin bowler, was recently named in the India U19 squad for the upcoming edition of the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup. The premier youth tournament will be played in January and February next year.

The tournament commences on January 13 and will run on till February 3, when the finals will be played for the ultimate glory. As many as 16 international teams are participating in the mega event. All teams have started announcing their U19 squads for the tournament. Talking about the form of the Indian colts, the news has not been very bright in the recent times.

They were beaten by Nepal and Bangladesh in the recently concluded ACC U19 Asia Cup. Their failure to make it to the playoffs is seen as one of the primary reasons for a totally revamped Indian squad for the World Cup. One of the beneficiaries of the revamped changes is Pankaj Yadav.

Big name in Ranchi cricket circles

As per the reports in Zee News, Pankaj has been a dominating performer in the local cricket in Jharkhand. He is a big name in Ranchi. Perhaps, he could be the next big thing from Ranchi after MS Dhoni. He expressed his gratitude to his parents and the coach Nath Jha after being selected in the Indian team. “Cricket is my life and I will give my best in the World Cup. Dhoni and Shane Warne are my role models,” he quoted.

Meanwhile, his father Chandradeo Yadav is a proud man too. He exclaimed his excitement over the selection of his son in the national side. “I always wanted to see my son doing well in academics but his passion was cricket. So, I encouraged him to pursue it as his career. I respect his choice and will always support him for it. Pankaj is a great fan of Dhoni, I wish he becomes like him someday,” he quoted.

Pankaj Yadav will be leaving for Bengaluru soon to undergo the training scheduled from December 8 to December 22. India U19 will play their first match in the World Cup 2018 against Australia U19 on January 18.
